The Halifax Pier 21 Museum Experience
Experience one of the leading Halifax attractions steps away from the Westin Nova Scotian. The Halifax Pier 21 facility, the nation's "Ellis Island" was the gateway to Canada for over one million immigrants and refugees from Europe and elsewhere. In addition, Pier 21 served as the embarkation point for nearly 500,000 Canadian military personnel during World War II.
Step back in time and visualize the thousands of hopeful immigrants who began their new lives in Canada here. The Pier 21 Halifax museum contains a treasure trove of over 2,000 stories, 500 interviews, 300 films and thousands of historical images. In addition, Pier 21 features a rich assortment of World War II-era documents.

- Guests can find Halifax parking at the Westin Nova Scotian steps away, or alternatively, parking is available to the right of the Pier 21 main entrance for $1.50 per hour
- Hours of Operation
- Pier 21 is open from May 1-October 31 7 days a week from 9:30am to 5:30pm. During the month of November, the museum closes at 5:00 instead of 5:30. From December 1 to February 28, the museum is open Tuesday -Saturday from 10:00am to 5:00 pm and closed Sundays and Mondays. In March, Pier 21 is open Tuesday-Sunday 10:00am-5:00pm, closed Monday. During the month of April, the museum's hours are Monday-Saturday 10:00am-5:00pm, closed on Sundays. Pier 21 is closed on select holidays.
