Pedometer Challenge: July 1 - September 30 2013
This summer, we’re having a friendly and fun competition amongst our associates – the Pedometer Challenge!
Interested employees received a Free Pedometer at the beginning of summer, which also includes a daily/weekly tracking sheet. The top associate steppers throughout the competition will receive special prizes from The Westin Nova Scotian.
Did you know that wearing a pedometer can benefit by helping you assess your activity level and motivating you to move more? This challenge is encouraging our staff to look for new and exciting ways to take more steps throughout the day.
According to the National Institute on Aging, most inactive people get 2,000 to 5,000 steps per day. This is common among those who work office jobs that require a short walk to and from the building and a long day at the computer. The same institute states that to ensure you get enough activity to meet current recommendations for health, aim to get 8,000 to 10,000 steps a day.
At our Halifax hotel, we’re committed to a healthy, balanced lifestyle! What are the ways you keep healthy at home or while traveling?
