On February 9th the Progress Club of Halifax hosted their 40th annual Sport Celebrity Dinner. The Halifax event is a fundraiser to support two of the Club’s local charities; The Progress Centre for Early Intervention and King’s Meadow Home. The Westin Nova Scotian has been a proud sponsor of the event for the past six years.
One of the perks of being a Halifax hotel sponsor, beyond helping the community, is a private reception at Pier 21 where we were encouraged to mingle with the celebrities. Football Hall of Famer Warren Moon, Fighting Irish Rudy Ruettiger, Hockey Star Chris Chelios, Boxing Great Larry Holmes, Former Flyer Bernie Parent, Comedian Derek Edwards and MC for the event Rod Black kept the audience of 1200+ entertained for at the Cunard Centre. Silent & live auctions as well as raffle sales helped raise additional money for two worthy charities.
