At The Westin Nova Scotian, we're committed to giving back to our local community. Throughout the year and over the holidays, our hotel and associates give back through fundraising, volunteering and donating our services to places we're passionate about. From donating time with Make a Wish to providing towels, pillows and other household goods to local shelters, we're passionate about helping others.
This holiday season, we were thrilled to support our communities in variety of different ways.
Every year, our hotel gets together and shows support to families of the Ronald McDonald House Atlantic Canada. For the 2013 holiday season, we housed 10 special families for five nights each while Ronald McDonald House was closed. We were honoured to give these families a place rest their heads over the holidays while in the city for medical appointments.
With our Take the Elevator Home promotion, we were able to raise $5000 for Alice Housing, who provide safe second stage housing and supportive counselling to women and children leaving domestic abuse. Our holiday guestroom rate included a $10 donation to Alice Housing this year. We'd like to thank all of our guests for booking this rate and supporting this important cause.
Over the month of December, we were honoured to give 250 of our Westin Heavenly Bed® pillows to five separate shelters around Halifax Regional Municipality, some of which fall under the umbrella of Shelter Nova Scotia. We were happy to provide comfort to these men and women.
We're looking forward to another charitable year in 2014. Here's to a happy new year!
