Halifax Conference

Playing our part… I often think that what we do in the hospitality industry is simple. We give people a place to stay, meet and network. We make it easy for them to do business, that’s what we do for all of our groups. One Halifax conference in particular has come to be an annual event that touches the world and has taken our role as host hotel to a whole new level.
The Halifax International Security Forum brings to our city, “Leaders from more than 50 countries …to discuss pressing security issues, including the impact of the American presidential election on the rest of the world, the turmoil in Syria, the continued rise of China, energy security, cybersecurity and modern warfare.”

Our Halifax hotel becomes the venue for world leaders to feel comfortable to discuss serious issues in a secure setting. After four years of hosting the HISF, our hotel associates look forward to the busy weekend and the excitement surrounding this important event. We are proud to be part of history.
This year’s Halifax Forum video conveys the spirit of the event and the feeling expressed by all involved: http://halifaxtheforum.org/
We hope to "sea" you soon,

The dust has settled, and The Westin Nova Scotian has once again successfully hosted the biggest and brightest in the world of National defense; The Halifax International Security Forum.
For the third year in a row, our Halifax hotel was chosen to host leaders from more than 40 countries, bringing together more than 300 decision-makers and experts to address dozens of topics on the international agenda. Participants discussed the need for greater cooperation and creativity to tackle security challenges at a time when many nations are cutting budgets for defense, diplomacy and development.

The hotel literally transformed into a UN style conference centre. The Commonwealth Ballroom was complimented with tiered, theatre style seating, outfitted with almost 300 leather tub chairs. The audio-visual in the room was unlike anything that has ever been seen in Atlantic Canada. The lobby became an English Garden and played host to the casual, but high-level late night discussions which were considered off the record. Some of Nova Scotia’s finest musicians complimented the ambiance of LED lighting, and funky soft seating.

The Westin Nova Scotian has become a part of this exciting brand, and the Halifax International Security Forum is committed to two more years to Halifax…and Westin! The President of the organization does not want it to end there, and plans o be here for many years to come.
